It's been awhile, but I'm back! We had our 20 week ultrasound 2 weeks ago which revealed that we're having a BOY!!! We were both a little shocked because our gut was telling us that peanut was a girl. We are thrilled with our little boy, though.

I've been feeling pretty good in the second trimester. Nausea is gone and the appetite is up. I still get tired very easily, but I figure that's par for the course.

We choose our crib and changing table a couple of weeks ago (at Babies R Us), and we picked them up this past Saturday. Here are some pics of them in the nursery, along with some other baby stuff that we have accumulated. Note: The blue walls in these pictures don't do it justice. It looks better in person. :)

We also registered at Babies R Us on Saturday. A friend of ours who has a 1-year old went with us to help us out. She did a lot of research on baby stuff when she was pregnant, and had great advice on what she liked and disliked. She was a huge help.

That's all for now! :)

My posture looks awful in this picture. I really did try to stand straight!!

Yesterday we had our 16 week doctor appointment. No ultrasound this time, but we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was awesome!! The doctor said peanut's heart rate was great and made a prediction on the gender. I will let you know if he was right next month. :) I was so excited to make our next appointment for the big ultrasound. Feel free to make your prediction on what we are having in the comments section. :)

As for symptoms, the nausea has pretty much subsided!!! I still have aversions to foods that I previously liked, but I will take that over the nausea anytime!

I feel like my bump is showing more, which is exciting. I've gotten a few looks from people at work. I know they are wondering if I'm pregnant, but don't want to ask. LOL!

The nursery is painted, the curtains are up, we have a bassinet (from when I was a baby), and we are currently researching cribs. So much to get started on in the upcoming months!!!

Paisley Clutch

>> Thursday, December 10, 2009

One of my favorite blogs, Fantabulously Frugal, had a recent blog entry about a deal Handbag Heaven was having. I hadn't heard about Handbag Heaven before, so I checked it out. I spotted this clutch and absolutely loved it.

Do I need this clutch? No. Did I buy it anyway? Yes! The reviews were great, and with the 20% discount the site was offering, plus the 15% additional referral discount link from Fantabulously Frugal, I only paid $19.20 (with shipping) for it. I ordered it Tuesday and it shipped out yesterday, so I should have it very soon.

Meert Tree Farm

>> Friday, December 4, 2009

Jeff asked me if we wanted to get a real Christmas tree this year, and I thought, why not! I have never had a real Christmas tree before. Jeff suggested going to a tree farm, so on Sunday, November 29, we met up with my in-laws and headed to Meert Tree Farm in Festus. Although it was a cloudy and cold day, we had a great time getting our tree, checking out the cute little gift shop and sipping some delicious hot chocolate. I'm really glad we did it!

Driving on the highway with a tree tied to the roof of the car was quite entertaining to me. Every now and then the tree made a loud knocking noise that made me laugh. It was like the tree was trying to tell us to hurry up and get home already.

I will post picks of the tree decorated soon.

Preg1_12wks

Our 12 week mark was technically last week. I just haven't had a chance to get around to posting until today.

I feel like I have a little bit of a baby bump, but it could very well be bloat. Regardless, my pants are definitely getting tighter. I went out a bought my first 2 pairs of maternity pants recently (1 pair of khakis and 1 pair of jeans). It was so weird going into a dressing room to try on maternity clothes! Very surreal. I think I'm going to wear the khakis next Friday (casual day) because my regular khakis are getting uncomfortable.

We saw our little peanut again at our 12 week appointment. The doctor did a stomach ultrasound this time (last time was vaginal), and said he should have no problem seeing the baby since I'm skinny. He sure knows how to make a girls day! Baby was quite active. I would love to have the whole ultrasound experience on video so I could play it over and over again. I probably wouldn't get much done though. The doctor said everything was looking good! Next month we get to hear the heartbeat, and our January appointment is the big ultrasound!!!

As for pregnancy symptoms, I'm still dealing with tiredness and the nausea. Keeping my fingers crossed that the nausea ends soon (I can deal with the tiredness).

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Exciting News!

>> Tuesday, November 17, 2009

I'm finally ready to officially announce here that Jeff and I are expecting our first child in May!!! We are very excited, and feel so blessed! I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant with an estimated due date of May 29, 2010.

How we told our parents...

My in-laws threw us a first wedding anniversary party on Saturday, October 3, so we figured it was the perfect opportunity to let them know. Also, my parents had the top layer of our wedding cake, so it was the perfect opportunity to get them to my in-laws house early (before any guests arrived). I was 6 weeks pregnant at that point.

We got a card for each set of parents. I handed each mom a card and told them that it was a thank you for everything they had done for us over the past year. They bought it! Ha ha. They both pulled the card out of the envelope, looked at the front picture, and didn't quite get what it was (there was a teddy bear on the front). Once they looked inside, they found that the card was addressed to "Nonna & Nonno" (grandma & grandpa in Italian for my parents), and Oma & Opa (grandma & grandpa in German for Jeff's parents). We also put the estimated due date at the bottom. It was so cute to see their reactions when they realized what the card was really for. Hugs and happiness followed. My mom told me that she could not keep the announcement a secret. She then proceeded to call all her sisters (my aunts). :-) She's so cute.

During the actual anniversary party, we announced the news to our family and they were so thrilled for us.

Pregnancy Symptoms Thus Far...

-Nausea (started week 6): I'm very fortunate that I have not actually gotten sick from the nausea. I know other have had a hard time with it. I still hate the nausea, though, and I can't wait for it to disappear.
-Tiredness: It's amazing how I tire so easily.
-Sore boobs: It's been pretty mild, so I don't mind it.
-Crazy hormones: OMG, I get pissy at the a drop of hat these days. Little things annoy me very easily. I'm even getting annoyed at myself for getting annoyed so easily. I also get weepy at unexpected things/times.
-Party pooper: Between the nausea and tiredness, I've become quite the party pooper. I don't have the motivation to go out and do things like before. I'm hoping this will change once the nausea disappears.

Cravings...

Unfortunately, my healthy eating habits have kind of gone to wayside for now. A lot of foods just don't sound appetizing (especially soups). I'm blaming it on the nausea. :(

I am craving potatoes in any form (especially chips), mac & cheese, cottage cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, chocolate milk and sweets in any form (glad that has changed).

So that's the beginning of this incredible journey so far!!! More to come!

Side note: I really wasn't pregnant when I made that nursery post. Who knew it would happen so soon after that, though! :-)

I'm already looking forward to the holidays, and I think this new event to the St. Louis area is such a great idea.

St. Louis Holiday Magic takes place December 4-6 at America’s Center, and promises to be an exciting and entertaining event for families and shoppers.

Some features of this event are:

-An indoor holiday village filled with vendors offering unique gifts for the whole family.
-A dazzling light show with over 40,000 holiday lights choreographed to holiday music.
-A full-scale indoor carnival.
-Culinary demonstrations
-Beer and wine garden

-Kids activities and more!

The shopping and light show were enough to intrigue me, so I hope to check this event out.
